Are you seeing the correct colours on most monitors?
I’ve been struggling for a long time on my Windows PC as to why some times the images i edit in Photoshop looks slighty different (colour tones) from when i used ’save for web…’ until i came across this article and everything suddenly becomes crystal clear.
I have been told by most professional photographers to use Adobe RGB ( 1998 ) ICC profile when it comes to editing photos to retain the quality so i set my colour profile to Adobe RGB ( 1998 ) and did not know this would also affect the colour on images when trying to save for the web.
I’m not going to explain why as the article by Chris MacAskill at SmugMug makes it crystal clear and i can’t put it any better than he does as well as the helpful advice you will get too. One thing that kind of shocked me when Chris MacAskill talks about the Mac being wonky on colour management is that Mac was built for every designers’ dream so why did Steve Job get it wrong?… Chris MacAskill has some interesting insight on this.
Article: This is your Mac on drugs
Off-topic: It’s nice to level the playing field here between a PC and Mac.
