Yet another fork of Mambo - miaCMS
It's happen before and it's happen again... Another fork of Mambo CMS.
Couple of years ago, there was a split due to some disagreements between the Mambo committee and core developers, and the core developers along with some of the working group members decided to walk out on the Mambo project. A week later they formed their own open source project named Joomla. Joomla is a fork of Mambo as it uses the existing codebase from the Mambo CMS.
Since then other developers have taken up the challenge of maintaining Mambo, one of them was Chald Auld. Couple of years on and yet another split from the committee and another fork of Mambo is born. This time the CMS is called miaCMS.
miaCMS uses the Mambo codebase like Joomla does but it's aim is to refactor the whole codebase to incorporate the YUI framework as well. Some of the YUI has already been added in the current version 4.6.5
Most of the features in miaCMS for version 4.7 are also what's to come in Joomla 1.6, such as a better Access Control Levels (ACL). So it'll be interesting to how this two CMS will complete for attention in the open source market.
You can read the full story and an interview with Chald Auld at YIU blog which he also talks about the features to be implemented for 4.7 version.
